Of these, 1,351,281 passengers traveled through Kazan International Airport (this is 58% more than last year’s figure), and 15,934 passengers traveled through Begishevo International Airport (this is 36.56% more than in 2022)
Officers of the customs post of Kazan Airport of Tatarstan Customs cleared 8,718 aircraft (this is 54% more than in 2022), employees of the Naberezhnochelninsk customs post of Tatarstan Customs at Begishevo International Airport cleared 207 aircraft (this is 3.86% less than in 2022).

“The growth of passenger traffic at Kazan International Airport is due to the fact that the aviation industry has recovered from the sanctions and reoriented its market to countries that are not affected by foreign influence, and today Russian airlines are actively developing international destinations on a par with foreign airlines that continue to operate international flights to Russia,” commented Mirzanur Garayev, head of the customs post at Kazan Airport.

As a result of customs control of individuals and their luggage for 2023 Tatarstan customs officers revealed 907 facts of illegal movement of goods and cash currency. Of these, 905 facts were revealed by officers of the Kazan Airport customs post (19.5% more than last year), 2 facts were revealed by officers of the Naberezhnochelninsk post at Begishevo International Airport (81.82% less than last year)
At Begishevo airport both facts were related to exceeding the norms of import of alcoholic beverages, at Kazan International Airport the statistics of detections by types of goods is as follows:

12 facts of movement of service and civilian weapons;
33 facts of movement of wild flora and fauna species falling under the CITES Convention;
45 cases of importation of commercial consignments under the guise of goods for personal use;
45 cases of importation of commercial consignments under the guise of goods for personal use
72 facts related to goods subject to existing prohibitions and restrictions (in particular, foodstuffs subject to veterinary control);
