Ural customs officers seized almost 500,000 packs of unlabeled tobacco products from circulation in the domestic market. The value of illegal cigarettes is estimated at almost 45 million rubles
One of the largest batches of unlabeled tobacco products was detected at a warehouse in Chelyabinsk last November – more than 240 thousand packs. And in Ekaterinburg, customs officers found almost 100,000 packs ready to be sold on the domestic market
“Most often cigarettes enter the Russian domestic market from EAEU countries. Unscrupulous sellers use various hiding places in vehicles or disguise cigarettes as other goods. Nevertheless, thanks to post-control we can detect and suppress the turnover of unmarked products already on the domestic market,” said Viktor Amanov, Deputy Head of the Ural Customs Administration – Head of the Service
Customs officers, as a result of analytical activities, together with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, identify places where illegal cigarettes are stored. Suppression of import and detection of unlabeled products on the domestic market is one of the priority areas of post-control work in the Ural Customs Directorate
