More than 470 offenses worth 37.5 million rubles were detected by the Urals customs officers with the help of service dogs

Ural customs officers with the help of service dogs in 2023 revealed more than 470 violations  of legislation. They stopped 179 attempts to export cash in various currencies with the equivalent of more than 37.5 million rubles

We seized 15 kilograms of narcotic drugs, potent substances and precursors, 30.5 tons of tobacco and more than 31,000 cigarette boxes, and 7 CITES objects.

Seven CITES objects were seized

The highest results were shown by the Belgian shepherd dog Norway, which has been serving in the Koltsovsky customs office named after V.A. Sorokin for 8 years. Thanks to its instincts, over 6 million rubles, 7.5 kilograms of nasvay and derivatives – bear claws – were found in 2023

There are 19 dogs serving in the region of the Ural Customs Administration today. Among them are German and Belgian shepherd dogs (Malinois), Russian spaniels and Labradors. All four-legged assistants are certified to search for narcotics, most of the dogs have additional specializations in searching for ammunition, explosives, tobacco, money, SITES objects, precious and semi-precious stones
