Tyumen customs office revealed the smuggling of the forest at a cost of 8 million rubles

In January 2020 the Tyumen customs officers opened 4 criminal cases on the facts of illegal export of timber with a total value of almost 8 million rubles.

In the course of joint activities of the officers of the Tyumen customs, and employees RU FSB of Russia across the Tyumen region established the facts of illegal supply of timber from Russia to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The goods Declaration was filed in the Tyumen customs in 2017. From October 2017 and February 2018, the organization exported to Uzbekistan coniferous timber by road. 12 declarations removed about 1,200 cubic meters of wood.

As a result quickly – search actions it is established that declared in the customs declarations data are unreliable. The employer failed to submit to customs authorities the documents confirming the legitimacy of origin and the acquisition of the forest.

In accordance with expert opinion the cost of illegal movement of timber amounted to 7 million 800 thousand rubles.

In accordance with the decree of the RF Government dated 13.09.2012 № 923 “On approval of the list of strategically important goods and resources for the purposes of article 226.1 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation” the timber are strategic resources.

On the fact of illegal movement through customs border of the EAEU of strategically important resources in the large size 4 criminal cases under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code.

The guilty persons be punished with imprisonment for the term from three till seven years with a fine in the amount up to one million rubles or the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period up to five years.
