To 77-anniversary of the liberation of Kursk from Nazi invaders

Officials of the Kursk customs took part in the events dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Kursk from Nazi invaders.

The solemn procession and laying of wreaths and flowers was held at the Memorial complex “in memory of the fallen in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945” of the city of Kursk.

Kursk in February 1943, liberated the troops of the 60th army of the Voronezh front under the command of major-General Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky.

7 February fierce battles were fought on the outskirts of the city, especially near the railway station. On the night of 8 February, stormed the Central areas of the city. Distinguished soldiers 322 th infantry division under the command of Colonel S. N. Perekalskogo and 248 infantry brigade Colonel I. A. Guseva. Across the ice through the river Tuskar, they stormed the German defenses in the center of Kursk.

In this battle, killed the commander of 322 th division of the Stepan Nikolaevich Perekalskiy. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. It is named after the streets and squares of the city of Kursk.

By the evening of 8 February 1943 in the tallest building of Kursk – the House of pioneers hoisted the Red Flag. Kursk was liberated.

The liberation of Kursk was the first step towards the impending battle of Kursk, which was a radical change in the whole great Patriotic war.

Kursk customs officials came to honor the memory of not only the liberators of Kursk, but their grandfathers and great grandfathers – participants of the great Patriotic war and home front workers. We know and remember that thanks to the heroism, courage and fortitude of the Soviet people managed to survive under the destructive onslaught of the enemy and to enable future generations to live in an independent and free Homeland.
