Astrakhan Customs initiated 5 criminal cases on smuggling of strategically important resources
Officers of the Astrakhan Customs and the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Astrakhan region revealed and suppressed a channel of illegal movement of timber across the customs border
As a result of joint operational and investigative measures, it was established that in the period from 2019 to 2020, the director of a Voronezh company sent timber from especially valuable species of wood – beech and ash, totaling more than 390 m3, by international road transport to the Republic of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The suspect purchased timber worth more than 10 million rubles in cash from an unidentified person and entered false information about the supplier of the timber in the declaration.
An investigation was launched into the 5-count criminal case
Five criminal cases were opened under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (large-scale smuggling of strategically important resources). Further investigative actions are being carried out
