More than 50,000 packs of illegal cigarettes have been identified by Novorossiysk customs officers

50 559 packs of illegal tobacco products were detected by Novorossiysk customs officers in 2023 as a result of inspections of retail outlets in Anapa, Gelendzhik and Novorossiysk.

Novorossiysk customs officers have detected a total of 50 559 packs of illegal tobacco products

The checks in the domestic market were carried out jointly with employees of the transport prosecutor’s office, the Federal Security Service of Russia and the police. A total of 41 inspections were carried out during the year.

The facts of sale of cigarettes made of low quality tobacco, as well as tobacco products without digital marking and special (excise) stamps of the Russian Federation illegally imported from the EU and EAEU countries were revealed. 7 criminal cases and 14 cases of administrative offenses were initiated against the sellers. The products were withdrawn from civil turnover, – commented the head of the service of customs control after release of goods of the customs Andrey Andreev. – Suppression of illegal circulation of these products is one of the tasks of Novorossiysk customs
