Customs officers prevented the export of undeclared cash in the amount of 305,000 rubles from the Russian Federation. A Russian citizen flying to Dubai (UAE) tried to export a large sum of money in hand luggage through the “green corridor”, but was stopped by customs officials. During customs control, the passenger was found to have cash in the amount of 10 thousand US dollars and 305 thousand rubles

A case on administrative offense under article 16.4 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of cash by an individual) was initiated against the citizen. 305 thousand rubles were seized from the passenger, and 10 thousand U.S. dollars were returned to the citizen against a receipt. The case materials were sent to the court, which will determine the amount of the fine

BACKGROUND. It is prohibited to take out of the Russian Federation foreign currency in cash in an amount exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand U.S. dollars. However, it is possible to take out cash over the equivalent of 10 thousand US dollars in Russian rubles, provided that it is declared in writing.
