Sochi Central Customs Post celebrates its 15th anniversary
The Sochi Central Customs Post of the Krasnodar Customs is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Since the beginning of this year, more than 70,000 passengers and 120 sea vessels have undergone customs control. In accordance with the Order of the Federal Customs Service of Russia dated September 2, 2009 No. 1616, the Sochi Customs Post «Seaport Sochi» and the Sochi Customs Post were reorganized and the Sochi Central Customs Post was created to improve the structure of the Sochi Customs. The date of the post’s creation is September 15, 2009. The activities of the Sochi Central Customs Post include customs control of foreign-going sea vessels crossing the customs border of the EAEU, goods transported by passengers and crew members of these vessels, as well as goods and vehicles arriving under the customs transit procedure. The staff of the post consists of 22 people. Prior to 2008, before the reconstruction of the sea gates of Sochi, up to 90% of the total cargo turnover of imported goods, the majority of which was agricultural products, passed through the Sochi Seaport Customs Post. As part of the development and preparation of Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out at the seaport, after which a closed harbor for receiving cruise ships appeared in place of the old port. Thus, the specificity of the Sochi Seaport changes from cargo-passenger to passenger direction. This year, the 11-deck passenger cruise liner «Astoria Grande» continues to operate international sea routes from Sochi to Turkey. The ship calls at the ports of the Turkish coast: Istanbul, Cesme, Sinop, Trabzon, Izmir. Since the beginning of this year, more than 48,000 passengers and 22,000 crew members of the liner (a total of more than 70,000 individuals) have passed customs control, which is almost 26% higher than the figure for the same period last year (52,000 individuals). In addition, the post’s employees carried out control over 70 yachts that were engaged in international passenger transportation. In total, since the beginning of 2024, control has been carried out in relation to 71,000 passengers and crew members, as well as in relation to 124 sea vessels. The amount of collected payments amounted to 692.4 million rubles. 96 cases of administrative offenses have been initiated, the majority of which are related to the identification of facts of non-submission or untimely submission of the statistical form of goods movement to the customs authority (Article 19.7.13 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation).
