Smuggling of timber by almost 3 million rubles revealed the Buryat customs
382 cubic metres of softwood to 2.87 million rubles illegally exported to China firm of Buryatia. The smuggling of timber were discovered by the staff of the Buryat customs together with UFSB Russia on Republic Buryatiya.
As told Deputy head of the Buryat customs, Alexander Martynov, the firm illegally acquired forest on the territory of the Republic, and then exported timber to China on forged documents. The entire firm was taken through a railway crossing Naushki Buryat customs 322,4 cubic meter of sawn timber from pine and 60 cubic meters of larch.
Buryat customs on the facts of smuggling of timber has opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code (“Illegal transfer of strategically important resources in the large size”) which sanction provides imprisonment for the term up to seven years, a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
