Smuggling of timber by almost 10 million rubles revealed the Buryat customs
Nearly 1.5 thousand cubic meters of softwood for the sum about 10 million roubles illegally exported to China firm of Buryatia. The smuggling of timber were discovered by the staff of the Buryat customs together with the Buryat transport office of public Prosecutor and UFSB of Russia on Republic Buryatiya.
As told Deputy head of the Buryat customs, Alexander Martynov, the firm illegally acquired forest on the territory of the Republic, and then exported timber to China on forged documents. Total for 2017 – 2018 was exported through the railway crossing Naushki Buryat customs 1.3 thousand cubic meters of pine and 130 cubic metres of larch.
Buryat customs on the facts of smuggling of timber has opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code (“Illegal transfer of strategically important resources in the large size”) which sanction provides imprisonment for the term up to seven years, a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
