Smolensk customs officers have seized nearly 40 tons of fruit and vegetables carried under a flame retardant spray and a polymeric material

Smolensk customs officers, together with UGIBDD of Russia across the Smolensk region has identified about 18 tons of Turkish tomatoes and more than 19 tonnes of pears, which were transported under the guise of fire resistant spray and a polymer.

Vehicle with tomatoes, owned by the Belarusian carrier, detained in Yartsevo district, Smolensk oblast. The driver presented shipping documents for a shipment from Poland to St. Petersburg fire resistant filling composition. Customs officers revealed the lack of a transit Declaration for the goods, and when viewed from the cargo compartment found fresh tomatoes from Turkey. Supporting documents, including documents confirming the phytosanitary security, had not been charged.

The second vehicle, also owned by the Belarusian carrier has been detained in the town of Safonovo, Smolensk region. The driver sued the transit Declaration for another vehicle. According to documents in the car from Lithuania to Moscow transported polymeric material (MDI). After inspecting the cargo Bay, customs officers discovered there is fresh pear.
