Altai customs inspector turned down $1,000 bribe

Officers of the Altai Customs anti-corruption department detained a bribe-giver who tried to smuggle a car without the necessary registration.

An employee of the Altai Customs Department detained a bribe-giver who tried to smuggle a car without the necessary registration.

A 31-year-old foreign citizen offered a bribe to an inspector of the Tashantinsk customs post for importing a car from Mongolia without proper customs control

The perpetrator personally handed the bribe in the amount of 1,000 US dollars to the customs officer, after which he was detained by officers of the Altai Customs Anti-Corruption Department, who had been warned in advance of the crime.

The bribe was paid to the inspector

A criminal case was initiated against the bribe-giver by Ulagan inter-district investigation department of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Altai on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe to an official for knowingly illegal actions in favor of the bribe-giver).
