3 quintals of truffles failed to clear customs

Customs officers in St. Petersburg have stopped the importation of undeclared canned Italian truffles into Russia.

A consignment of canned mushroom mixture from Italy arrived in a cargo vehicle at the Kotlinsky customs post of St. Petersburg customs. The goods declaration submitted to the Central Electronic Customs Office indicated the importation of 876 jars of canned truffles with a total weight of 407 kg worth 8 million rubles into the Russian Federation

Officers of the Kotlinsky customs post conducted a customs inspection and found discrepancies in the declared information about the quantity of goods being moved. Thus, in addition to the goods specified in the declaration, the vehicle contained another 624 cans of canned truffles. The total weight of undeclared mushroom mixture amounted to 300 kg, the value – 5.5 million rubles.  

The goods not declared in the declaration were seized. – said the head of the Kotlin customs post Anton Novokhatko. A case of administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia was initiated against the customs representative for non-declaration of goods.
