Over a million air passengers have been cleared by Pulkovo customs officers since the beginning of the year

The most popular destinations for travelers in Northwest Russia this year were Uzbekistan, Turkey, the UAE and China.

Since the beginning of the year, Pulkovo customs officers have checked the luggage of more than a million travelers and more than 6 300 aircraft. Compared to the same period last year, the growth was 35% and 34% respectively.

Inspectors of the customs post Pulkovo Airport since the beginning of the year initiated 613 cases of administrative offenses against passengers on international flights, which is 22% higher than in the same period. Customs officers stopped 336 attempts of non-declaration of cash currency, 139 cases of non-declaration of goods and 103 facts of violation of prohibitions and restrictions in the movement of alcohol and tobacco products. The amount of fines collected by customs officers exceeded 30 million rubles

Despite the increase in the number of offenses, the number of passenger customs declarations issued increased by more than a third: from 3,390 to 4,987. Travelers most often declared cash currency, jewelry and watches.
