More than 120,000 packs of cigarettes were discovered by customs officials in Novorossiysk in rolls of insulation material that were being exported to Turkey. During investigative operations, it was found that the Russian sender had declared 3 tons of vapor barrier film made of polypropylene fabric on a foil base. Inspection of the containers at the port revealed hidden compartments containing packs of Belarusian cigarettes. The goods were marked with special excise stamps from the country of origin and have a market value of 15 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 226.1, Part 2, Clause «b» of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods on a large scale). The operations were conducted jointly with the FSB of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.
