Irkutsk customs: in 2019, continued growth in the number of international flights and passenger traffic

Irkutsk customs has summed up the results of the international air border crossing point Irkutsk in 2019.

The acting head of the customs office Irkutsk Airport Irkutsk customs Konstantin Pimonov noted that in 2019, have received the further development emerged in the past five years trend in increase in annual passenger traffic and number of international flights, including by increasing the number of foreign airlines.

Passenger traffic increased mainly due to foreign tourists in Irkutsk oblast (Irkutsk, lake Baikal). The largest number of organized groups, presecki the customs border of the Eurasian economic Union in the international air border crossing point Irkutsk – Chinese tourists. Also in the region comes a large number of tourists from the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, USA, Japan, European countries.

Among the traditional destinations 2019 – South-East and Central Asia: China (Beijing, Harbin, Hong Kong, Shenyang, Manzhouli, Hailar, Sanya, Changchun, Guangzhou, Dongsheng, Beidha); Thailand (Phuket, Bankok, u-Tapao); Vietnam, Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Japan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey.

“One of the priorities is the prevention of violations of customs and other legislation when passing by citizens of customs control, which is particularly relevant in connection with a significant increase in passenger traffic and aircraft performing international flights,” – said K. Pimonov.

Only natural persons (passengers) customs point Airport Irkutsk Irkutsk customs for January-December 2019 was initiated 382 cases on administrative offenses (AP). Basically, offences associated with the failure to declare goods, as well as the prohibitions and restrictions by individuals (both Russian and foreign citizens). Among the identified – offences relating to non-Declaration of tobacco products, as well as securitising blend tobacco “nasvay”, alcohol; illegal transport of bladed weapons (knives and brass knuckles), goods containing radioactive substances, the subject of paleontologists (mammoth Tusk), commercial consignments and attempted illegal movement of citizens across the customs border of the EAEU of counterfeit products.
