The import of cars from China through the Ussuriysk customs has increased fivefold. Ussuriysk customs officials have processed 6,242 cars imported by individuals for personal use in the first eight months of 2024. This is five times more compared to the same period last year. The majority of individuals imported vehicles of Chinese brands such as Changan, Chery, and Geely. However, in August, out of the 1,611 imported cars, almost half, or 800 cars, were Japanese, Korean, and European brands produced in China. Previously, customs officials only recorded isolated cases of such car imports. The amount of customs duties paid amounted to over 3 billion rubles. The cars that arrive at Russian checkpoints follow the customs transit procedure at the customs post and are placed in temporary storage warehouses. The vehicle registration process is carried out promptly after the submission of the relevant documents.
