429,000 rubles were detained by Ussuriysk customs officers at the Poltavka checkpoint. The Chinese citizen attempted to illegally import the cash into Russia without declaring it.

Customs officers found undeclared cash in the foreigner’s travel bag during an X-ray baggage check. The man was carrying more than 58 thousand Chinese yuan and 600 thousand rubles to Russia, which amounted to 14.7 thousand U.S. dollars at the exchange rate

– The law prohibits moving cash exceeding the equivalent of 10 thousand U.S. dollars without a declaration, – said the head of the customs post DAPP Poltavka Ussuriyskaya customs Vitaly Ulzituev. – The Chinese citizen had to declare all  imported cash: both rubles and yuan.

The Ussuriysk Customs initiated a case of administrative offense against the tourist under Article 16.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration or false declaration of cash and (or) monetary instruments).

Customs officers seized the money moved in excess of the permitted amount of 429 thousand rubles and placed it in the storage room of the customs material evidence. The case is under consideration. An administrative fine on citizens for this offense can range from half to twice the undeclared amount of cash, or confiscation
