Over 1,700 units of smuggled cigarettes seized at the Russian-Abkhaz border.

6 March 2020 team in Sochi UFSB of Russia across Krasnodar territory in conjunction with the Sochi customs seized a large shipment of smuggled tobacco products. The illegal scheme of import of smuggled cigarettes were successfully revealed in a result of joint operative-investigative activities.

According to the information received from the Service in Sochi UFSB of Russia across Krasnodar Krai on the possible illegal movement of goods across the customs border of the EEU at the customs post MAPP Adler customs officers stopped the bus of the brand “KING LONG”, who arrived from the Republic of Abkhazia late in the night.

In the course of customs control with the involvement of experts-cynologists of the bus were targeted for inspection using mobile inspection complexes (MIS). The scan results confirmed the possibility of the presence in the vehicle of undeclared goods.

During the inspection at the bottom of the bus was discovered a cache under the form of a tank made of metal. It was hidden 9 cartons 450 cartons of cigarettes, 360 blocks were loose.

Another hiding place was equipped in the area of the second steps of the passenger door under the passenger seats. It tried to take another 899 cartons of cigarettes. On the package there was the inscription: “an American blend of tobacco. Not for sale in Russia.” Excise stamps on tobacco products was absent.

The total number of identified tobacco products amounted to 1709 cartons of cigarettes (17090 packs, 341800 pieces). Smuggled goods were seized, samples are sent for examination. By results of examination of the value of the seized consignment of cigarettes was $ 1 million 822 thousand 990 rubles At the present time a criminal case under part 1 of article 200.2 of the Criminal code of Russian Federation (“Contraband tobacco products in the large size”).
