Customs officers seized more than three thousand packs of contraband cigarettes

One of the markets of the Pyatigorsk Department staff to control the entry and distribution of goods Mineralovodsky customs conducted a RAID to identify products imported into the territory of the Eurasian economic Union with violation of customs rules.

In one of the shopping pavilions was discovered 3,400 packs of cigarettes of foreign origin without mandatory excise labeling. According to the information given on the packages that cigarettes come from Armenia, Belarus, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

“During carrying out customs control we have found that the goods were not marked with excise stamps, – commented Oksana Smirnova, the chief of the customs control after release of goods Mineralovodsky customs. – In addition, there were no documents confirming the fact of Declaration and release for domestic consumption in the customs territory of the Eurasian economic Union, as well as the payment of excise duties, customs duties and taxes in respect of goods transported”.

For illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and sale of products without labeling violators face liability under part 5 of article 171.1 of the criminal code. Sanctions of given article provides the penalty to 500 thousand roubles or compulsory works or deprivation of liberty for a term up to 3 years.
