Illegal import of automotive nuts from Turkey prevented by customs officials at Volgograd Airport
During the customs inspection of the baggage of passengers on the international flight from Istanbul to Volgograd, goods not for personal use were found in the possession of a Russian citizen. The man, with his luggage and hand luggage, passed through the «green corridor,» thereby declaring that he had no goods subject to declaration. In the suitcase and bag, along with personal belongings, the resident of Volgograd was transporting undeclared automotive hub nuts, totaling 344 units with a total weight of over 30 kg. According to the offender, he purchased them in Istanbul for subsequent resale and was unaware of the need for declaration. «The quantity and characteristics of the goods indicate that this batch was intended for commercial purposes, not for personal use. The passenger should have declared the goods and paid customs duties,» explains Sergey Legkodimov, the head of the Volgograd Airport customs post of the Astrakhan Customs. The goods were seized pending a court decision. A case has been initiated against the man for an administrative offense under Article 16.2, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia (failure to declare goods subject to customs declaration).
