Customs of Russia and Brazil signed a Memorandum of understanding on the exchange of information for customs control after release of goods

The Memorandum of understanding between the Federal customs service of Russia and the Federal revenue Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance (Federal Republic of Brazil) on the exchange of information necessary for implementation of customs control after release of goods, signed in the bilateral negotiations on December 12, 2019 in Brasilia (Brazil). The document was signed by Deputy head of FCS of Russia Vladimir Ivin and head of the Secretariat of Federal revenue of Brazil Jose Barroso Tastesen NAT.

The Memorandum will allow the customs services of the two countries to increase the reliability of assessment of the value of goods transported between the territories of the States, as well as the reliability of the control information and shipping documents at the stage after release of goods.

During the talks the Sides discussed promising areas of bilateral customs cooperation. Agreement on the development of the “road map” for the preparation of the agreement on mutual recognition of status of authorized economic operator (AEO).

The Russian side handed over to the colleagues a draft plan of interaction between law enforcement departments of the two customs services in the years 2020-2022. Also agreed approaches for future work in the field of analysis and data exchange of the customs statistics, training, including in the field of cynology.

The sides noted the closeness of approach and mutual support on major issues of customs cooperation in the format of BRICS, as well as the successful cooperation between the FCS of Russia and Brazil FIA world customs organization.

During his visit to Brazil, the delegation of the FCS of Russia got acquainted with the work of the customs bodies of South America’s largest seaport in Santos, the busiest aviation hub on the continent – Guarulhos (in Sao Paulo), as well as the checkpoint on the border of Brazil and Paraguay, near the city of Foz de Iguazu, which has the largest volume of passenger traffic in the region. In the course of negotiations with the leadership of these customs authorities of the parties noted mutual interest in development of practical cooperation at the level of regional units of the customs departments of the two countries.
