Smolensk customs officers stopped the illegal transportation of one ton of dog food

A Smolensk customs mobile team stopped the illegal import of one ton of dog food imported from Belarus to Russia with concealment without shipping documents and a veterinary certificate

Customs officers stopped the car with the cargo on the federal highway “M-1 Belarus” in Krasninsky district of Smolensk region. According to the accompanying documents from Belarus to Russia were used car parts with a total weight of 1000 kg. The country of origin has not been established

After studying the documents, the customs officers conducted an additional examination of the vehicle using an inspection and examination complex, which showed the presence of goods not specified in the documents in the cargo compartment of the vehicle

In the course of the subsequent inspection among the spare parts, the customs officers found dog food. According to the labeling on the packages, the country of origin is Italy. The total weight of the food is 1000 kg.

The food is moved without the necessary veterinary and other accompanying documents that would allow to trace the origin of the product, as well as to confirm the guarantees of its quality and safety. To carry out additional checks, the cargo was handed over to specialists of the Department of Rosselkhoznadzor for Bryansk, Smolensk and Kaluga regions,” – said the head of Smolensk customs Yakubov
