Capsules for weight loss have led to a criminal investigation

The second criminal case under part 1 of article 226.1 of the criminal code (smuggling of drugs) has opened Smolensk customs officers in January of this year. And again the reason was the desire of our citizens to lose weight. And if in the first case, defendant in the case was a woman, this time the desire to have a slim figure failed 40-year-old man.

Thirty “magic” capsules Packed in 3 blisters with the words “…Fermentas fruit + plants…” and “Slimming Capsule”, seized by customs, were sent to study.

– An examination found that in their composition contains a potent substance that is included in the list of substances prohibited for importation and trafficking in Russia. The total mass of potent substances equal to 7.80 g, – said acting Deputy head of the Smolensk customs Sergey Panin.

Currently investigating customs carry out urgent investigative actions, the completion of which the materials are transferred to law enforcement agencies to conduct a preliminary investigation.

Sergey Panin noted that the sanction of this article prescribes the maximum punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 to 7 years with a fine in the amount of 1 million rubles.
