A car with 70 kg of hidden mumiyo was stopped by Altai customs officers
Undeclared folk medicine was detected by customs officers during the inspection of a car traveling to the Altai Republic from Mongolia through the checkpoint «Tashanta».
14 packages with black substance were hidden from customs control in a secret compartment of the passenger car. Altai Customs officers discovered the find together with colleagues of the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Altai.
Expert examination later confirmed that the contents of the packages were folk medicine under the name of mumiyo. Its total weight amounted to 70 kg. The driver of the car, a citizen of Kazakhstan, explained that he was taking it for sale in Russia and did not plan to declare the commercial lot.
On the fact of transportation of goods with concealment from customs control with the use of hiding places in respect of the offender Altai Customs initiated a case of administrative offense under part 2 of article 16.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for a fine with confiscation of objects and instruments of offense, or without confiscation.
