11 Affairs about administrative offences for the illegal movement of cigarettes across the border opened in June, Pskov customs

In June 2020 for the illegal movement of cigarettes through customs border of the Eurasian economic Union employees of the Pskov customs filed 11 cases on administrative offences.

In the Pskov region on railway and road crossings officials of the Pskov customs and Border Department of the FSB of Russia in the Pskov region by joint actions continue to thwart the attempts of illegal movement of cigarettes in the hidden cavities of the vehicles and under the guise of other transported goods. In June, filed the case on administrative offences in respect of individuals (vehicle drivers) and against legal entities.

Citizens are trying to conceal from customs control cigarettes in various technological cavities of trucks and rail cars. Also try to use different “goods cover”, submitting to the customs authority of false information about goods transported.

Cigarettes are detected in the inspection of the vehicle with the use of inspection complexes and with the help of sniffer dogs trained to search for tobacco products.

In the framework of prosecution of administrative offences in June 2020 seized 450 723 packs of cigarettes and 898 kg of homogenized tobacco. The preliminary cost of the seized goods is more than 20 million rubles.

Pskov customs warns about the illegality of concealment of any goods from customs control and the inevitability of punishment for violation of the customs legislation.
