1 block 2020, the value of Siberian timber export decreased by almost 9 %
In the 1st quarter of 2020 export operations for the export of timber in the region of the Siberian customs Directorate (STU) made 538 participants of foreign economic activity (decrease in comparison with the 1st quarter of 2019 10.6%).
Timber export in the 1st quarter of 2020 amounted to nearly 557 million USD (18.3% of the total value of exports in the region) and compared with the same period of 2019 has decreased by 8.9%.
12% of the total value of exports of timber amounted to the supply of unprocessed timber, 88% of timber processed.
Export of unprocessed timber declared to the customs authorities of STU, made 675,8 thousand m3 to 66.1 million US dollars (compared to the 1st quarter of 2019 reduction in the physical volume by 39.8% in value of total – 39.4%), timber treated – 3 537,3 thousand m3 per 490,9 million dollars (decrease in physical and value terms volume by 8.3% and 2.3%).
The export of timber was carried out in 46 countries near and far abroad. 91.4% of the value of exports of timber took delivery in foreign countries (primarily to China (65,9%), Japan (12.5 percent), Germany (3,4%), Egypt (2.8%) and Austria (1.2 percent)), 8.6% – in the CIS countries (mainly Uzbekistan (7.1 per cent) and Tajikistan (1.1 percent)).
Compared to the 1st quarter of 2019, the value of exports of timber to foreign countries (primarily in China) decreased by 11.8% and in the CIS countries increased by 40.1% and amounted to 509,0 million US $ 69.8 million and US $ respectively.
