Yekaterinburg customs officer convicted of bribery

The Leninsky Court of Yekaterinburg has sentenced a former employee of the Yekaterinburg Customs. Criminal proceedings were initiated on the basis of materials from the anti-corruption service of the Ural Customs Directorate. The operatives found that the customs officer collected and passed to a representative of a commercial organization official information. For this he received a reward in the amount of 133 thousand rubles

The court found the former customs officer guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe by an official for illegal actions) and Part 3 of Article 183 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (collecting information constituting a tax secret by illegal means, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The man was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of suspended imprisonment, with a fine of seven times the amount of the bribe, i.e. 819 thousand rubles. In addition, the former customs officer for 2 years is deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service, associated with the implementation of the functions of a representative of the authorities, the execution of administrative, economic, organizational and administrative functions
